What is the best HDTV+PC combo?
After much deliberation between buying a 27 inch iMac or an HDTV and a new PC, I have decided to stick with the operating system I know. I’d like to get a 27-35 inch HDTV that I can hook up a satellite connection and Xbox 360, and also use as a PC monitor. To connect to the HDTV, I’d like to get a powerful PC that will be used for editing videos/photos, browsing the Internet, watching movies, listening to music, and doing schoolwork. So, basically, this question comes in four parts: 1) What is an ideal HDTV+PC combo for my needs? 2) What additional cords/adapters would be needed to do this? 3) How complicated would this be? I am relatively tech savvy, but I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg only to find out I’ve bit off more than I can chew…Which leads me to… 4) Could I do this for under $1500?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated, but I would prefer someone with personal experience in their answer!
Its not as difficult as it seems lol. All you need to make sure it will work is when you go to shop for a PC make sure it has a HDMI output. This will ensure an easy mating and it will give you the best picture/audio. Its also cheaper than using VGA. So all you need to worry about for your project is buying an HDMI cable! Simple lol
35″ LCD or (LED More expensive) HDTV around $400-$600 (Sony is always a good choice when it comes to TVs’
That leaves you with $1,300-$900 for a good PC (Make sure it has HDMI OUT)
And around $20-$30 for a good HDMI cable.
Blutooth Keyboard and mouce $80 Or a standard wireless set around $50?
That should do it.
RE:Derek: Some good points, however all new HDTVs’ standard native res is 1080p unless I am mistaken? anything in the 35″ range anyway.
And yes good point on the HDMI cables, be weary of overpriced ones, however I wouldn’t advise buying a $3 dollar cable as there is a point in which build quality does make a difference. You can a double pack of Phillips HDMI cables at Wal-Mart for a good price and resonable quality.
