Stainless Steel LCD TV Enclosures for Outdoor Digital Signage
A stainless steel lcd enclosure, due to its rust and corrosion resistant makeup, can be installed in locations where it would not be possible otherwise such as a beach front storefront or restaurant patio.
Many beach front shopping centers and restaurants are investing in dynamic
outdoor digital signage
to present their menu to possible passing customers, to lure them in to their restaurant. These restaurants are using
outdoor digital menu boards
via a flat screen LCD or plasma TV running off of a media player, small pc, or media card. This hardware setup needs to be protected from the salt in the air (not to mention rain water) otherwise the components will fail. The best choice is to put the system into stainless steel LCD enclosure.
Stainless steel lcd enclosures
must be water, salt, and dust tight to stop salt build up and water leakage that can lead to failure of the internal components. The finish of the stainless steel that it preferred and provides a nice retail or high end look is a brushed finish. The brushed finish is a grain effect on the stainless steel material which provides an aesthetically pleasing finished product.
Stainless steel will not stain, rust or corrode as easily as mild carbon steel. Carbon steel begins to corrode when exposed to moisture or salt in the air. Stainless Steel enclosures can also be popular indoors in retail settings for the benefit of the aesthetically pleasing look of the brushed grain finish. Stainless steel enclosures are often mandated for food processing and pharmaceutical factory environments where it is critical that a high level of cleanliness is maintained in wash down environments.
LCD enclosures will accommodate flat screen LCD displays up to 70 inches in size and can be built to also house a media player or small PC, with wiring entering the casing through a water resistant grommet.
In some locations the air temperature can fluctuate greatly with high humidity. A stainless steel LCD enclosure (any enclosure) is available with an option of an air conditioning unit that functions on a thermostat to keep the internal temperature regulated, preventing overheating problems with the internal components. Cooling fans are usually standard and heaters can also be provided.
There are times when a stainless steel enclosure is not required in an outdoor setting. If salt is not present in the air, then a powder coated carbon steel LCD enclosure may be sufficient, especially if the enclosure is installed under an overhang or awning of some sort. Another material type that may be offered for the enclosure construction is aluminum which offers more rust protection than carbon steel and is more light weight.
